Storytelling Training 101

Storytelling is a gift of language, imagination and wonder. Yet, children can be terrifying to present to! If that’s you, this storytelling training is here to help!

In this training, you’ll master storytelling techniques to hold children’s attention. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to engage them, whilst having fun in the process!

This popular workshop is designed to be practical and hands-on, so participants can practice the techniques as they are taught.

In this storytelling training, participants will learn to:

  • Plan the storytelling journey
  • Utilise techniques used by great storytellers
  • Use voice, gestures and body language effectively
  • Animate the story through props
  • Capture the attention of the world’s toughest audience

Format: Online, live session.

Duration: 3 hours

Includes take-home cheat sheets

Preparation by Participants:

  • Download Zoom. Workshop link details sent prior by facilitator
  • Webcams to be turned on throughout
  • Active participation is expected, as there will be opportunities to practice and get feedback to improve
  • Prepare and familiarise with a children’s storybook
  • Have a notebook to take notes

About the Trainer

Peilin Lee is a TedX speaker and has spoken live on public radio and newspaper interviews. She has presented on topics including branding, effective presentations and sustainability.

Peilin is a storyteller who shares stories to children weekly, face-to-face and online. A creator of bespoke children’s workshops & parties, she is also an active volunteer storyteller with the National Library Board & kidsRead for more than 12 years.
